GGBFS  is a latent hydraulic material which reduces the heat of hydration  of the concrete thus reduces the concrete temperature. This property made GGBFS more suitable product for the mass concreting in hot weather 
GGBFS is a green material with 100 % pre consumed recycled content and it can easily replace 80% of OPC in the concrete compare to other SCM like Fly Ash which can replace maximum of 35% OPC .Thus GGBFS is more greener and environment friendly product.
Silicon dioxide of GGBFS reacts with portlandite of OPC and form C-S-H gel which makes concrete more denser and also reduces its liquid phase which ultimately leads to higher compressive strength in later ages and more durable concrete structure .
Holcim Trading ensures the supply of GGBS according to AJCI requirements. A special care is given to the basisity index, Aluminum oxide content, Magnesium Oxide content and Titanium Oxide content to obtain a consistent and high quality GGBFS.

Attributes and Benefits

  • Hydration rate of the concrete made out of GGBFS is slower than pure OPC concrete which makes it suitable for mass concrete placement and reduction of cracks
  • GGBFS concrete generally improves workability, finish ability and pump ability of plastic concrete.  It may provide a small decrease in water demand . GGBFS concrete will tend to increase time of initial set, which is often a benefit in hot weather concreting
  • Concrete with the 60-80 % GGBFS is not sensitive to secondary sulfate attack at high curing temperature therefore highly recommended to use when structure is exposed to sulfate rich environments
  • GGBFS reacts with the portlandite of the OPC and form the CSH gel ,this gel increase the concrete density and transform the large pores in the paste in to small pores resulting the higher strength in later ages and excellent durability .Thus concrete made with GGBFS have increase ultimate strength and decrease in water permeability compare two normal OPC concrete
